Santa Dash 2020

Santa Dash 2020

On Friday 11th December, the children of St. Paul’s N.S. took part in a Santa Run on the school grounds. All children wore their school tracksuits and something festive. The children turned up very excited wearing Christmas Jumpers, Christmas Hairbands, Santa Hats and all looked very festive.
The children came out with their Year groups. We had 9 wonderful 6th Class children who were the pace setters for the laps to help keep the class socially distant. The 6th Class children ran in front of each class setting the pace and encouraging the classes as each class completed 2 laps of the front yard.
Lots of smiles and laughter and Christmas songs were to be seen and heard as the children completed their Santa Run. Have a look at some of our pictures from the day thanks to Mr Harte, Ms Doyle and Ms Farrelly. Thank you to all the staff for helping out on the day. Our 6th Class children who helped out with the younger classes were Lucy Cameron, Rhys Bracken, Eva Carroll, Nathan Mooney, Isobelle Kelly, Seán O’Sullivan, Grace Gallagher, Mícheál Cooper and Brendan Twyford. Thank you all so much for all your help.

November Bookathon

November Bookathon

We have just started our first, month long, reading promotion in the school.  Some children have got out of the habit of reading so, while Readings Eggs is going down very well with the children, we want to supplement it and encourage them to read for enjoyment and not just for homework!

The challenge this month is to read as many books as possible during the month of November.   The progress of the class will be recorded on a noticeboard in the corridor and it will be referred to at assembly each week.  There may even be prizes for the class that reads the most!

In addition to this we are asking all children from 3rd to 6th to bring in a book with them each day if possible.  The children can keep the book in their bag and will have an opportunity during the day to Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R. time!)  They can also record their reading on Seesaw and send it to their teacher and, of course, the more reading you can do with your child at home the better.  Read to them each day and ask them to read to you.
