OUTDOOR PLAY

In 2026, Outdoor Play joined our school garden, playground and Green Schools programme as another way in which our children engage with the outdoors.

We now have a dedicated Outdoor Play area at the front of the school that includes a mud kitchen, trees for climbing, covered huts and dens, a construction area for play with spare parts, a mound, and a sandpit. Children in the Infant classes engage with Outdoor Play a number of times per week, wearing overalls and wet gear to enable them to comfortably play, while staying warm and dry. They use the Outdoor Play space to learn, play, take risks, run, climb, tumble, build, dig, carry objects, hide and get lost in imaginary games or play, all of which are important areas for their growth and development.

While putting together the Outdoor Play area, we were extremely fortunate to work alongside parents and guardians, who organised equipment for their children, as well as a number of donations of toys and other necessary materials for the space, which continues to grow and expand.

Make sure to take a look at some videos and photos of the Outdoor Play!
