In St. Paul’s NS, we are working hard to make our school and our beautiful community here in Ratoath a clean, green place to live! Our Green School committee is working on many initiatives to inspire the children to make changes for the benefit of our environment and wider world. One of these initiatives is ‘Walk On Wednesday’ where we are asking the children and adults to make a special effort on Wednesdays to walk to school. Cars are great, but the more we use them, the more fumes and emissions that are entering our environment. By choosing to walk to school even one day a week, we hope this will help our community with less traffic and keep our air cleaner too! If you would like to walk to school even more of the days- that’s super! Feel free to get those feet busy on the scooter or bicycle too if you’d prefer!
We took some pictures of some of our pupils walking to school this morning. Well done to everyone who made a special effort and we hope to see more of you ‘Walking on Wednesdays’!

On of January 27 at 7 o’ clock the credit union quiz started. I was on a team with Ellie, Oscar and Adam. The quiz took place in one of the function rooms. Each team had a table to themselves and the families sat at the back. The questions started easy like: ‘What is the capital of Ireland?’ The first four rounds were pretty easy. After the first five rounds we got a short break and snack. After the break the questions started to get progressively harder. One of the questions was: ‘How many coloured cards are there per suit in a deck of cards?’ And another was: ‘What star sign comes last alphabetically?’ Overall there were seven other schools { Ratoath National School, St. Declan`s, St. Marys and St. Andrews, Curragh just to name a few.} The junior team came third overall in their category and the senior team came joint second overall. Sadly this wasn’t enough to go through to the next round, but third, second and first place all got €20 each. I really enjoyed myself and had a great time.

On Friday January 27 2023 I had a quiz for the school. On my team there was Niamh, Molly and Scott. On the senior team there was Adam, Oscar, Hannah and Ellie. Niamh arrived first. Then Molly came. Finally Scott came. I was kind of calm. Then the quiz started. I would start first, then Scott, then Molly, then Niamh. The first three rounds were very easy. At half time Mr. Harte said that one person should write a round. The rounds got really hard. For participating we got a pencil case. We got third place which meant we bet Ratoath National School. We got fifteen euro. St. Declan’s came in second place. St. Mary’s got first place. In the seniors St. Declan came in third place. In second place came St. Pauls, Ratoath National School and Curragha. In first place came St. Marys. Completed by Nicholas Clarke
